CoQ10 has been studied for decades for its role in how cells make energy. When we compare products, we look at the amount per serving, the form named on the label, the capsule and outside testing.
Published CoQ10 studies have used a range of daily amounts, often 100 to 300 mg, and ubiquinone is the form with the longer research record. Lopez-Lluch et al. (2019), writing in Nutrition, compared CoQ10 supplements and reported that absorption depends on the carrier lipids and on how the CoQ10 is dissolved. A vegetable capsule holds the same compound without a gelatin shell.
